Our Co-Op program gives students valuable industry experience and exposure to innovative research and technologies.
Co-ops work directly on our research discovery programs, computational platform, technology platform, or with our manufacturing team. Co-ops learn a wide variety of methods pertaining to biochemistry, molecular biology, protein chemistry and cell biology, and are challenged to think creatively and actively participate in “real world” scientific problem solving. Visterra Co-ops are paid positions that generally last 3 to 9 months.
If you are interested in participating in our co-op program, please email co-op@visterrainc.com
“Visterra is dedicated to training and developing young scientists. Our co-op program provides young scientists with not only a strong technical foundation, but also the skills to work effectively and independently. Students who have worked at Visterra have gone on to obtain full time employment in the health sciences industry or have been accepted to prestigious medical/graduate programs. “
– Greg Babcock, Vice President, Research
“Working at Visterra as a co-op allowed me to gain hands-on industry experience that I would not have otherwise gained in the classroom. Visterra introduced me to a wide variety of important lab skills that cemented my interest in biochemistry. As a co-op, I also developed interpersonal skills by working with a supportive team and having the opportunity to present data and ideas. My positive experience at Visterra encouraged me to pursue a career in the sciences and to return as a full-time employee after college.”
– Nicole Brossi, Sr. Research Associate (former Co-op)
“When I joined Visterra, I had limited experience in the biotechnology industry. My team was incredibly supportive, teaching me new lab techniques and helping me understand the biology behind our work. I also had many opportunities to present my data, which allowed me to gain confidence in my work and my abilities. Being part of such a collaborative environment has not only helped me grow as a scientist but also solidified my passion for pursuing this as a career.”
– Annie O’Donovan, Research Associate (former Co-op)
“My co-op experience at Visterra showed me how my background in data science and biology could be used to make meaningful contributions to the scientific industry. What stood out to me was the opportunity to dive into a variety of projects, each tapping into different skills I had been honing through my coursework. From day one of my co-op to my current role as a full-time employee post-graduation, I’ve felt like an integral part of my team. I’m excited to continue solving problems with my team members and learning from our experiences.”
– Amanda Bell, Research Associate (former Co-op)
